Discover the Simple Secret of Success

I was reading an interesting email a couple of days ago from an online marketing guru that suggested that 80 per cent of succeeding is just about showing up every day.

Think about that for a moment. If it's true, then the most important thing you have to do if you want to succeed is sit down in front of your computer every day and do some work ... move your business forward ... take some action ... every single day.

Regardless of what the weather might be doing where you live, regardless of what might be going on in the world around you and around the country where you live, regardless of how enthusiastic you are about working, if you just show up and do something constructive every day you're 80 per cent towards your goal of success.

So do you do that every day? Are you so committed to achieving success that you're in front of your computer, working, every day?

Here in the community where I live the local authorities have invested a lot of money in a small group of experts who are employed to encourage and help local businesses to grow ... and there are a lot of local businesses in this area that need their help.

This group of experts is not sitting back and waiting for the local businesses to come to them. They are very proactive and they are out in the community running workshops, seminars, meetups and anything else that they can think of that will help local businesses make more money ... and it's all free. Local businesses pay nothing to attend all these events and even that is a plus because an awful lot of the local businesses around here are struggling.

Now you might think that, because everything is free and so many businesses need help, attendance at these events would be huge ... but you would wrong. This morning there was a talk about engaging website content and it was advertised widely. Most of the businesses got an email about it too so people knew that it was on.

Apart from the convener and the speaker just three businesses turned up. The weather wasn't wonderful but it wasn't so bad that it forced people to stay at home. The event didn't start at some ungodly hour ... most business people are up and about by 7.30am.

There was no cost to attend and even the barista-made coffee was free. Just about every local business has a website that is underperforming for them ... and they know it ... but despite all that only three local businesses could be bothered attending.

The others couldn't even be bothered showing up so what hope have they got of having a successful business?

Have you ever wondered about how genuine the offers, that some people make about revealing their success secrets, really are? Are the people who make those offers genuinely going to give away ... or even sell for a relatively modest amount ... the secrets of their success so that others will copy them?

Surely those offers can't be genuine because who would want to give anyone else the chance to come into their market place? Surely it's going to cut back on the revenue that is available if someone is going to give away, or sell, all their secrets so these offers couldn't possibly be genuine could they?

The reality is that a lot of those offers are not genuine ... they're just someone's get-rich-quick-scheme. But, while a lot of those offers are not genuine, some of them really are and the person who is giving them away, or selling them, really is handing out their secrets to achieving success.

But why do they do it if it is going to mean that a gazillion competitors are going to flood the marketplace and take business away from the person who giving his secrets away?

Those guys do it because they know that most people who learn the secrets to making money will never actually do anything with what they have learned. They might pay good money to learn the things that will make them rich but that's as far as it goes. They never do anything to turn what they have learned into cash in their pockets.

There's very little difference between those people who do nothing with what they have learned and the business owners in this area. They might act as though they are in business and they think that they really do want to succeed but they can't even be bothered to show up so they are never going to succeed.

So what sort of business person are you? Are you 80 per cent in simply because you do show up every day or are you one of those wannabe's who can't even be bothered to show up and do some real work?
