Don't Put it Off

In the adult online business we're all about building and submitting ... or whatever else we might do to keep the money rolling in ... because we know that if we stop working then so does the incoming money and it doesn't take long for your situation to become dire once the cash stops.

So we work like slaves to keep that money coming in. We get up early ... we work through the day and long into the night ... and we do it at a pace that you would never consider working at if you were working for someone else. But you're working for yourself so it's ok to go on working day after day ... week after week ... and year after year.

We get focused on our work ... we only focus on those things that are obviously going to improve our bottom line and everything else can wait. We've got to keep working to make money ... you simply don't have time to do anything that doesn't actively contribute to our bottom line.

We push everything else aside ... we think that we'll deal with it later ... we can't bother with it right now because we're too busy trying to make money. It can wait ... it won't hurt to leave it ... it's too hard to deal with right now ... we need to keep on working. It's all excused and while it affects all of us it's something that I've noticed seems to particularly affect those who work alone ... or work from home.

Have you had that mindset? Have you been so focused on making money that you've pushed other things aside? Have you looked at something very important and then justified the fact that you've pushed it aside by telling yourself that you have keep on working to make money?

It's very easy to do particularly if the thing you're pushing aside is something that you really don't want to deal with. You tell yourself that you'll come back to it when things quieten down ... when you have some spare time ... when you can take a break from working towards making more money.

It's not hard to convince yourself that you will come back to it ... but of course most of us don't ever get around to going back to it. We suppress it until we forget about it ... or we pretend that it doesn't exist until we convince ourselves that we don't have to worry about it anymore.

If you work alone ... or work from home ... it's easy to convince yourself that you can simply shut the door on those things you need to deal with and they will never come back to bother you.

Does all that sound familiar? If it does then you're just like my partner. If he doesn't want to deal with something he just pushes it to one side and goes on working. I'm sure he knows ... deep down ... that whatever it is won't go away but he can fool himself into believing that it has.

Unfortunately many of those things that we don't want to deal with ... those things that we suppress ... have a habit of coming back and biting us in the bum and if there's a cost involved then that cost often has a tendency to increase the longer we suppress whatever it is that we're trying to ignore.

The longer we keep the door shut on those things the more likely it is that they will turn into problems and before we know it something relatively minor has managed to grow into a major problem that we can't ignore and we can't fix.

So if you like to push things aside on the pretext that you have no time for them right now because you're busy making money and you'll deal with them later then it's time to take a deep breath and accept the fact that you simply must deal with things as they arise.

You can't keep pushing them away ... you can't pretend they don't exist ... because they do exist, they won't go away and you're going to have to make time to deal with them.

That's something that is very hard to do ... especially if you're very busy ... but the real bottom line is that you have to do it. You have to take time out of your busy schedule to deal with all those things that come up that don't increase your ability to make money.

You have to stop putting things off because if you don't those things may start to take big bites out of the money that you are making.
