Getting Started in Adult 4

Posted On: 2010-10-14

Ok so here we are at the end of the series that's been running for the last three columns where I've taken you through some of the things you need to do to really get started ... and survive ... in adult marketing.

If you were new to the industry when you started reading this series it's almost certain that you had a fairly rosy view of this industry. Just about everyone who comes knocking at the adult industry's door hoping to make their fortune has that view but if you've read the last three columns I hope that view you had when you started has begun to change.

This is not the place where you can make fast easy money ... the only place where you can do that is in your fantasies. This is the place where hard work ... and lots of it ... will eventually be rewarded if you take the time to learn all you can about every facet of marketing online.

Hopefully the last three columns here on Rated Hot have given you some tips on what you need to learn and what you need to do to make the money you hoped for when you first started here and today's column will just add a few more points for you to think about.

You need to be tenacious
This is not a business for people who can't handle hard work, long hours and more than the average person's fair share of disappointments. If you can't handle set backs and hard knocks then don't start here because this is one industry where you'll face plenty of challenges.

However, if you're tenacious ... if you simply won't stop till you've achieved your goal then you will succeed here. Don't just test the waters when you want to do something here ... attack it with all the enthusiasm and experience that you can muster.

Don't just play around the edges ... give it your version of shock and awe.

When you need to learn something new don't just read a few articles ... skim a few web pages ... devour all the information that you can find on the subject so that you can have the knowledge you need to succeed.

You need to work smarter not harder
If you haven't discovered it already then I'm about to reveal something that's important to understand ... there are only 24 hours in every day. That's all you get ... just 24 hours ... and if you want to have healthy sleep patterns you only get around 16 hours in every day that you can spend on work.

So use your time wisely and learn to work smarter rather than harder. Look at everything you do during those working hours and see what you can do to save time. That can be anything from using two monitors instead of one (three can be better than two) right through to trimming the fat from your daily reading list.

Look to see what can be automated and use the best scripts you can find to do that grunt work. Look at outsourcing some of the things you do ... but be careful because some outsourcers take up more time to manage than what you might save by employing them.

Just don't go too far with your automation because you could find that the return on what you've invested in that automation just isn't there ... or the quality of the output from those time saving scripts just isn't what it should be.

Never give up
Yes, you're probably thinking that's easy to say ... when times get tough and you're running out of money or a major sponsor has gone bad and isn't going to pay you ... it's hard not to give up.

I know ... I've been there several times but if you give up you'll never come back ... you'll never be able to turn your dreams into reality and you'll never be happy because you will continually see others succeed where you failed.

So never give up ... never have failure as an option. Keep on building and growing your business and when times get tough just put your head down and keep on working.

Does that sound like hype? Maybe it does but as I just said, I've been down there and I've clawed my way back and if I can do it then so can you if you don't let failure be an option in your life.

So after two weeks and four columns that's the end of this series. I hope it's been helpful and I'll be back on Monday with something different.
