I Have Some Bad News for You

Of course, if you've been in this industry for a while and you're making money then you already know what the bad news is going to be. But if you're new to the industry or you've been here a while and you just don't understand why you're not succeeding then I do have some bad news for you.

And what is that bad news? It's simple really and it doesn't just apply to this industry ... it applies to every business person in every industry. And the bad news is that if you want to succeed here ... or anywhere else ... you have to work hard ... there are no magic bullets that will let you go from zero to mega-rich overnight ... there are not magic wands and certainly no magic potions either.

If you want to succeed you have to work at it ... day after day ... month after month ... year after year.

Sure, you can look around and see lots of very successful people and perhaps even think that they didn't have work hard to get to where they are today. Only the other day I was reading the story of a very successful Australian entrepreneur who made millions when he sold his first project to Google and then, a few years later, made more loot when he sold his second project to Twitter.

Now at just 25 he could retire and enjoy the good life but instead he's now working on his third project and even though he looks, and is, very successful there was no magic bullet involved in him acquiring wealth. He wrote all the code for his first project by hand ... and that was no easy undertaking and then he had to sell it to Google.

Here in adult we don't have to write code by hand anymore but that doesn't mean that we don't have to go on working hard. And working hard is really just the start. You can go without sleep for days on end and do nothing but build and submit and you still won't succeed because you have no plan ... you have no vision of where you want to go and how you want to get there.

You may well have jumped into this business with a very simple goal in mind ... to make money and that's not a bad goal for beginners but sooner rather than later you need to start redefining that goal. If you don't redefine your original goal ... if your goal goes on just being that simple objective of making money then you won't have a clear idea of how to achieve your goal.

So you need to redefine your goals ... establish some time frames ... and then set out a plan of how you intend to achieve those goals within those time frames. It doesn't have to be an involved plan ... it doesn't have to be the type of business plan that banks want to see when you're looking for a loan ... but it does have to be a plan.

Without a plan you will very quickly begin to lose your way ... with a plan you will stay focused so that you can go on moving towards your goal. Of course your plan doesn't need to be set in concrete ... in fact the more flexible your plan is the better it will be for you because things change ... what works today won't work tomorrow ... so you need to be flexible to meet those changing conditions.

You also need to go on developing your skills ... you need to always be willing to learn new things such as copywriting and the psychology of selling. You might find it all deadly dull and boring but if you ignore those things that you need to learn you will quickly discover that people aren't buying what you're selling.

Sure, people might be hitting your sites and devouring your free content but if they'll just move on without buying anything unless you develop the skills you need to make sales.

So what's happening with your business right now? If you have some goals and a plan are you actually using that plan to move towards those goals or are you still floundering around struggling just to survive?

Have you even woken up to the fact that success here requires a lot of hard work or do you still believe that you don't have to work hard, you just have to look like a playa to succeed here?

If you're still dreaming of being a playa then I hope you wake up to reality much sooner rather than later because the longer you hope to succeed without any effort the harder it will be to survive when you discover the bad news that success here requires a lot of hard work.
