How Are You Feeling Today?

So how are you feeling this fine day? Are you feeling bright and bubbly and full of energy or a bit dull and lethargic and tired of facing the same old same old?

Personally I should be feeling like a total wreck because I've just come from the gym and it's the first time that I've been to the gym in years. But instead of feeling like I'm in melt-down I really do feel great and I'm actually looking forward to a great day of interesting work.

Don't be misled though, the work I'm doing is exactly the same work I've been doing for the last few weeks and yesterday I was getting tired of facing the same work day after day but not now. That trip to the gym has had an amazing effect on me and I can't wait to get into that work today.

So if you're having problems facing up to the work you have to do today and if you're feeling like last week's left over pizza then perhaps it's time you got out and did some serious exercise. You might be surprised at the effect it has on you too.

You don't have to go crazy and start training for the New York Marathon or the Tour de France, you just have to get out and do something other than sitting on your ass all day in front of your computer. And age is no barrier to exercise either. Whether your 20 or 70 you will still benefit from some exercise.

You can walk, you can run, you can swim, you can paddle if you have a kayak, you can ride a bike or even go to the gym like we did. It doesn't matter what you do to exercise just so long as you do get out there and exercise.

And you shouldn't feel guilty about taking time away from your online work to do that exercise either. The fitter you become the longer you will be able to work and the sharper your brain will be too. If that doesn't ease the guilt then look at your time out exercising as a time that you can spend doing some market research.

We arrived at the gym a bit early this morning and had to wait for it to open so Steve and I sat in the car discussing some of the advertising on the buildings in the complex and picking out those ones that really did catch our eye. It was definitely interesting to
compare signs and the impact that some did, and some didn't, have on people passing in the street.
So if you need to justify that time you spend exercising right there is a perfect way to feel comfortable about taking time away from your computer. But really you shouldn't feel guilty about it at all. You simply can't sit in front of your computer working away for long hours every day. You're body won't last for long if you do and it's the only body you've got so you really do need to look after it.

Industry awards
You know, I'm always a little dubious about industry awards and one of the latest XBiz awards really does puzzle me. There have been numerous threads on boards like GFY for months from unhappy customers of the business that won the award yet somehow they manage to win. If you're business is really that good then there should be few if any complaints appearing on message boards but that certainly doesn't seem to be the case here. I'm sure there's a logical explanation for that but I'm afraid that I can't quite see what it might be.

Hosting down time
If you're new to this business you may not yet have realized that the business that hosts your website is the one that can really make or break you. A good host who responds quickly to server problems that might put your site offline is vital to your survival and a host who takes hours to respond to server problems is guaranteed to do a huge amount of damage to your business.

So when it comes to choosing your host spend some time researching what's available and don't just automatically grab the first cheap hosting plan you find. At the same time don't be overly influenced by all those people you see on message boards who suggest that their favorite host is the best on the planet.

Instead go looking for those threads where people are talking about hosting problems and see what the response times have been. That's where the truth really does come out and that truth will help you make the right decisions when it comes to where to host the websites that are important to your business.
