How to Build Your Empire

Posted On: 2011-02-24

Ok so this is going to be one very crazy day. I've been up since 4.30 and I'm digging through a pile of work until about 10am and then I'm off on a 10 hour road trip that will finally bring me back here late tonight so let's jump into today's column before I go totally insane.

I thought that I might make a few suggestions today for people who are just starting out in this industry ... suggestions that might get you started on a plan that you can expand for years to come ... a plan that will keep the traffic flowing through your sites and maybe even attract the search engines.

Focus
The first thing you need to do is to focus on two or maybe three niches that appeal to you. Gone are the days when you could make money selling general porn sites; these days you've got to drill down to specific types of porn and then you've got to go down even deeper into the sub-niches.

So identify those types of porn that you like to look at and then spend a little time looking at the sub-niches. For example, you might like mature babes so that's your starting point and from there drill down into areas of interest like mature babes and toys, mature white babes with black guys, mature babes in gangbangs.

And do that for one or two other niches as well. Make some notes ... list some of the sponsors who deliver the content that fits with those niches and then choose which of the three niches you're going to work with.

Domains
Now you know which areas you're going to work in go looking for some domain names that might fit with those niches. Years ago keyword-rich domain names weren't all that important ... then we moved into a period where good keyword-rich domain names were very important if you wanted to rank well in the search engines.

Just lately we seem to be moving back to the way things were years ago so don't stress too much if you can't find relevant keyword-rich domains. If you can find some then it's a bonus but if you can't then I don't think it's a major concern anymore.

When you've found a two or three domains buy them, park two of them and then go looking for hosting for the third domain. And do the same for the other niches that you decided to focus on ... buy three domain names, park two and find hosting for the third.

Hosting Look for some shared hosting with one of the better known adult hosting companies. There's always a lot of cheap hosting floating around but if the host doesn't have a solid reputation in the industry then don't buy hosting from them.

When you've got your hosting put your domain on the host and start building but don't rush in and use the index page of the domain root for a site or gallery. Instead put a simple full page ad on the index page and start building your sites in directories off the domain root. If you do that you will end up with the URL of your first site that will look like: domainname.com/firstwebsite/.

Go on building sites and galleries in same niche and adding them to that same hosting account so that the URL will look like: domainname.com/secondwebsite, domainname.com/thirdwebsite and so on.

Of course you will submit those sites and galleries to the relevant link lists and TGPs so that you get some traffic rolling in.

When you have four or five galleries or free sites built on that domain go back to the root index page and replace that full page ad you put there with an attractive looking page that's rich in keywords (but not stuffed with them) and links to all the free sites and galleries that you have on that domain.

Keep on updating that index page as you build more sites on that domain.

The second niche
Basically repeat what you've done for the first niche but with one major change. Find another good host and put the domain name you chose for the second niche on that host.

When you've built up a few sites and/or galleries for the second niche change the full page ad on the root index page to the same sort of index page you have for the first niche and then link them together.

The third niche
Repeat all the steps that I outlined above and while you're doing that keep on building sites for the first two niches and place them on the relevant domain names.

Branding
What you're doing is building up your own network of sites and after you've built a few start branding the new sites you build with your own logo. It doesn't have to be big ... it just has to be placed somewhere that surfers will see it and recognize it the next time they see it.

At the same time start adding a link to the root directory as one of the recips on the index page of each new free site or gallery you build so that surfers begin to head back to your index page for more of what they want to see.

Those other domain names
Now it's time to start taking those other domain names out of parking. Once again you want to find some new hosting for those domain names ... or at the very least get the hosts you have already used to put them on new IP addresses.

It might also be wise to shuffle those other domain names around so that you don't have two domain names for the same niche on the same host. Once you've got the hosting for that second lot of domain names sorted out I'm sure you don't need me to repeat what you need to do.

All you have to do is get your head down and start building and linking.

And now all I have to do is get my partner down here with the SUV so we can start clocking up the miles till we can get back home.
