How to Make Them Sign Up

Posted On: 2010-02-22

These days there has to be no harder way to get signups than marketing via thumbnail galleries. The limitations that the TGP owners put on gallery submitters make it very hard to get signups ... and that's just the start because then you have to overcome buyer-inertia and get them interested in signing up with your sponsor.

So you might get plenty of traffic to your galleries but turning that traffic into sales can be all but impossible.

But what can you do? You need the traffic to have any hope of making sales and you just have to comply with those rules or you don't get listed and you don't get the traffic.

Well there's an interesting discussion going on as I write this over on one of the biggest adult webmaster boards about what sales numbers you can expect from a gallery listing on The Hun.

Of course The Hun is renowned for huge traffic numbers. Years back he was getting around seven million hits a day and even today his traffic numbers are still impressive and he can burn a gallery submitter's bandwidth in no time at all.

So if you want to list there it's important to be able to build a gallery that's not only acceptable to The Hun's reviewers but will also generate sales ... lots of sales. But how do you do that? How do you build a gallery that not only looks good but gets the surfers interested in heading over to your sponsor?

Well one experienced gallery submitter chimed in to the discussion with his two cents worth and it's not very different to what I've been saying for some years now. If you want to generate sales then your marketing has to be different ... noticeably different or the surfers just won't see your advertising.

His suggestions include combining your sales text with current events. His example involved a kinky little bitch who was so wild that if being kinky was an Olympic event she would win the gold medal. And there's the current event and something else as well.

There's an almost subliminal message there that will encourage surfers who want kinky action to sign up because there's no one better than someone who wins the gold medal at the Olympics. He also suggests using colors to highlight words and there's no better color for the word ‘gold' than gold. It just goes to reinforce the fact that there's nothing better available anywhere else.

Of course you can say that there's no better kinky content anywhere else on the Net in those precise words but most surfers know that it's just advertising hype and it's easy for them to dismiss. But if you use words that we all associate with the best and you use colors that we all associate with the best the message comes in loud and clear and at a level where they can't dismiss it.

It hits them at a level where they can't call bullshit and move on ... they have to respond to that message. They may move on without heading over to your sponsor but they won't dismiss the message as hype because they won't even recognize it as such and they could end up getting more of that hard-to-resist marketing on your gallery and ultimately head over to your sponsor.

Of course if you want to market like that you're not going to be able to use the marketing tools that your sponsor provides. You're going to have to build your own gallery templates and you won't be able to use your sponsor's banners ... or even any text links they might provide.

You're going to have to design your own templates ... templates that may not look so pretty but certainly put as much focus as you can on the marketing message. You're also going to have to put yourself inside the heads of your surfers and speak to them in simple language and in terms that are relevant to them.

But then if you're serious about wanting to make money from this business you're going to want to make them sign up and you'll understand that achieving that goal requires plenty of effort on your part.

If you're not prepared to put in that effort you're never going to get them to sign up and you're never going to make any real money here.

The industry may be suffering right now and getting signups when so much is available for free is not getting any easier but people are still prepared to buy porn and all you have to do is make them want to sign up.

When you've learnt the art of making them want to signup you'll start making all the money you can handle.
