Running a Strip Joint

It's got to be one of those days when I really don't feel like work. It's not the weather that's making me feel this way ... it's not that I've been working too hard in the last few days either. It's just one of those days when I'd like to do anything but sit in front of the computer and work.

However tomorrow is the day when I can escape from the office and the computer and recharge my batteries so for today it's work. Today my work is to somehow get a whole bunch of people I've never seen before excited in a product that generally isn't all that exciting and not what I'm selling at all. Usually I'm selling my businesses web design skills but today I'm selling something quite different.

So why do I have to get them excited and why has it got anything to do with selling adult products?

Well I'm building an online shop for a client who wants to make a heap of money selling their product and, if I want to build a shop for them that will work, I've got to build in some excitement ... some encouragement ... some pizzazz that will get the people who visit the site in the mood buy the product the site is selling.

Now I could just build a few pages at the front of the online shop that tell people the basic details of the products my client wants to sell and I could add in a few images of the products too and then just shoot the visitors into the shop so that they can go and find what they want.

If I did that I'm sure that I would get a few people who would want to buy the product but I'd probably get a lot of people who might visit the site and buy nothing and if you know me then you know that I hate wasting website traffic. So I've got to do something with those first few pages that will make more people want to buy what my client is selling.

I guess I'm going to have to warm up all those site visitors ... I'm going to have to make them forget all the things that are going on around them and get them totally focused the products that are for sale on the site and on the buying process. I'm going to have to tell them why they should buy my client's product and what that product will do for their lifestyle.

So when you come to selling the adult products that you sell how do you go about it? Do you throw up a free site or gallery that has a header ... a few text links and a bunch of images? Is that what you rely on to make your money? Do you hope that the images will get the surfers horny and a couple of text links is all that will be needed to then get those horny surfers over to your sponsor where he can convert them?

Well undoubtedly that approach would work ... with some site visitors. Some ... maybe just a few ... will get turned on by the images and they will want to get over to your sponsor's site to get more hardcore action but will it attract every one of your site's visitors?

Obviously you're never going to get a 100% conversion rate. You're never going to get every visitor to your site to click through to your sponsor but you can certainly improve on the number of people you get to click through to your sponsor.

If you don't then you're website is not dissimilar to a strip club downtown that has it's front door closed and nothing but an image of a stripper in a display case next to the door. You'll probably be able to tell from the name over the door and the image in the display case that it's a strip joint but without some encouragement you're not going to want to go in.

But imagine if things were just a little different. Imagine that as you were about to walk past the club the door was flung open and a guy came out to tell you all about the hot babes who were stripping naked and doing lots of nasty lap dances and you could experience all that if you just stepped through the door.

A few well-chosen words could do a lot to warm you up and get you interested in going into the club and seeing what was on offer and that's the way it is with our websites. If you rely on a few pictures (the image in the display case) and a banner provided by your sponsor (the name on the sign over the door) to get people interested in signing up with your sponsor then you're going to have as much success as the strip joint with the closed door has.

If you really want to make some sales then you have to warm your site visitors up before you try to send them to your sponsor. You have to tell them a story about why they're going to have so much more fun on your sponsor's site than they are on your free site.

You're going to have to give them reasons why the hardcore your sponsor is offering is so much better than what they will find on a free site and you're going to have to get them so involved that they won't want to do anything else but join up and find all that pleasure that you've promised them.

So what kind of strip joint are you running at the moment? Do you have what it takes to make the changes that need to be made to open the door and get people interested?
