Starting Your Business Here in Adult Online

Posted On: 2010-12-20

My business is currently doing some work for a client who forever wants to hold meetings. He wants to meet to discuss progress ... he wants to meet to discuss page layout ... he wants to meet to discuss the size of the 'Buy Now' button ... he wants to meet to discuss SEO ... he wants to meet to discuss everything ad nauseum ... and he is driving me insane.

A job that should have taken two weeks and was charged at a rate based on that time has now blown out to eight weeks and still there is no end in sight. He doesn't seem to realise that all those meetings are what's delaying the project and he seemed lost and almost unable to cope with life when the last time we met Steve had the meeting wrapped up and the client out the door in under 30 minutes.

Aren't you glad that you've left that life of meetings and time-wasting behind you? Now you're starting your own business here in adult online you don't have to put up with any of that bullshit. You're running your own business and you can do whatever you want.

You can make changes on the fly ... you don't have to hold meetings ... you don't have to make decisions with a committee ... you don't have to worry about any of that business crap because you're the captain of your own ship and you're the only one that you have to please.

Yes it's a great life if you don't falter ... and just so long as nothing goes wrong. You can be free of all that corporate rubbish ... you don't have to worry about business plans ... cash flow projections ... profit and loss ... and all that other stuff.

You can do your own thing because it's your business ... you're the boss. Hell you don't even have to get out of bed if you don't want to because you answer to no one. You are the man!

It sounds like the perfect life doesn't it?

I guess it's no wonder that so many people who are working for someone else want to come over to adult online and make their fortunes working for themselves. Who wouldn't want to work in this industry when everything is so relaxed ... so easy?

Of course there's the dream ... the mirage ... and then there's the reality. It's hard work when you work for yourself. You don't have a paycheck provided by someone else whether you work your fingers to the bone or not. There are no sick days or vacation time here and there are no other employee benefits either.

If you make a mistake when you work for someone else the chances are that they'll wear the cost but when you work for yourself and you make a mistake you wear the cost all by yourself.

When you work for a company or someone else you let others make the important decisions about where that business is going to go in the future but when you work for yourself all those important decisions are down to you. Suddenly your future is in your hands and you're making decisions on the fly.

There are no meetings with marketers and strategists ... there's no waiting for reports and the results of surveys ... there's no discussion with other managers. There are just decisions to be made and the only person to make them is you.

Make the right decision and you can see your cash flow grow from an insignificant trickle to a raging torrent. Make the wrong decision and you can be out of business in the blink of an eye.

It's scary stuff because it's all up to you and if you fail you have no one else to blame but yourself.

Of course nothing that I've said should put you off starting your own online business ... and that's exactly what you're doing if you want to start selling porn online. Many people don't even stop to consider that selling adult-related products online is a real business ... but that's definitely what it is.

Sure you may be free of all that corporate or business crap of meetings, meetings and more meetings. When your business is you there may be far more flexibility in the way you can respond to changing conditions but you definitely are still running a business and all those things that govern any business still apply to you.

If the economy is bad then times will be tough for you too ... you do have to watch your cash flow and know where it's heading in the future ... hell you're even going to need a business plan. But at least you don't have to attend all those boring-as-batshit-meetings that never seem to achieve anything but waste time.

I'll be back on Thursday to talk about business plans and cash flow and if you want your small business to succeed I suggest you join me.
