Ok so somehow we've now reached Friday ... I'm not sure how we got here so quickly ... it only seemed like a few minutes ago it was Monday morning and I was carefully planning my week to maximise my time and get lots of work done.

Oh silly me ... does any week in my office ever go according to plan ... or even close to it? Last night at a business meeting here in town another business person asked me how my week had been and the only way I could describe it was as "total insanity."

And that pretty much sums it up ... even my partner was complaining this week that whenever he thought he could grab five minutes this week to catch up on some reading a wheel fell off someone's website and we had to rush to fix it. That's the joy of working with people who think they can update their own websites.

So if you're week has been like mine then you have my sympathy. However, if your week has been the total opposite of mine ... if you've sailed through a carefully planned week and look back and tick off all the things you wanted to achieve then ... I don't want to know.

And seeing how it is Friday I have to admit that I really don't want to get too serious here today. One thing I do want to get you thinking about though concerns images. You know ... those things that we post on our websites to encourage people to sign up with our sponsors.

Now over in mainstream it's a well known fact that if you're building an e-commerce site then big, clear pictures are going to help sell your product more effectively than small grainy ones. But here in adult the accepted rule has always been that those small grainy photos are more likely to sell your sponsor than big photos.

When you deliver a gallery full of big, clear photos that include everything ... even the money shot ... you're giving your surfers a free wank. What's the point of them signing up with your sponsor if you've just delivered everything they need to satisfy the urge that's driving them to look at porn.

But then of course the surfers aren't the only ones who want you to post big, clear images ... those people who control the traffic ... those people who can make or break you ... the link list and TGP owners want you to post big photos too. Of course they also want those big, clear images to be part of a series and not just 10 or 20 unrelated images.

So what are you going to do? You obviously don't want to give everything away for free and at the same time you don't want to piss off the people who control the traffic so what do you do?

Do you just grab 10 or 20 pics from the latest photos you've bought from a broker, batch them through something like Fireworks or Photoshop and throw them up and hope that you haven't given too much away for free?

That's obviously the quick and easy way ... just feed the photos in at one end of the process and then run a script that will reduce their file size as well as insert them into a template. If you have the right scripts you could probably automate just about the whole process but what's that going to do for sales.

On the other hand you could go through each batch of images you buy from your broker ... chose 10 or 20 that are part of the series but don't include the money shot ... or even some of the heavier hardcore photos and use those.

Of course that's going to take more time but perhaps taking that extra time might be worth it if your sales actually go up. You may not be giving your surfers everything they need to spooge their pants but if you choose the right images ... and use them to fire up the surfers' imagination you just might find that a lot more traffic to your sponsors than you have in the past.

Obviously there are no guarantees ... what works for one person in this industry seldom works in exactly the same way for someone else. So if you want to try and lift your sales by taking a little more time in choosing the images you put up you need to do some tests just to make sure that the extra time really is translating into more sales.

You may think this idea is crazy ... and it could be ... but why not do some of that testing I just mentioned. You may prove yourself right ... or you just might be in for a pleasant surprise. Either way, it's something to think about over the weekend.
