To Succeed All You Need Are Solutions

Over on Porn Resource this week I suggested that maybe this December you don't do what many of us have done at this time in years gone by.

Instead of looking back over the last 12 months to see what we've achieved we should keep looking forward to see where we're going in the next 12 months because, sometimes, looking back can be depressing. Sure, in the last 12 months we may have achieved a lot but very few of us will have achieved everything we set out to do and looking at those things we didn't achieve can really damage us.

So instead of looking back we look forward ... we dream about what the next big thing might be and how we can be right there at the cutting edge ... developing the next big thing and making money from it too.

But we need to go beyond just dreaming ... if all we do is dream we're never going to achieve anything. So there needs to be some action along with the dreaming. We need to start investigating the possibilities of turning our dreams into reality. We need to look at the challenges that lay between the dreams and the reality and we need to start thinking about how to overcome those challenges.

Earlier this week Amazon announced that it was looking at a new delivery system that would involve automatically controlled quad copters delivering products right to your front door within an hour so of placing the order.

At first it all sounded like an early April Fools Day joke but the technology is there and, as I pointed out on Porn Resource, it's about to be put into commercial use here in Australia. So somebody has done some dreaming and then moved on to looking at the possibilities and the challenges ... and now there's even more challenges for them to look at thanks to hackers who want to try and spoil things for everyone.

Undoubtedly both Amazon and the guys here in Australia are going to be looking at ways of beating those hackers ... really it's just one more challenge to be overcome ... one more solution to find ... and I'm sure that a solution will be found.

And right there is an example for us and for our businesses. If we really do want to move forward then we've got to put the past behind us and start dreaming about the future and the possibilities we might have to do something that no one else has thought of. At the same time we need to be realistic and expect challenges and those challenges will come in all shapes and sizes ... some will be easy to overcome while others will really test our will and ability to turn our dreams into reality.

Ultimately those that have the resolve to overcome all the challenges and obstacles will be the ones who will turn their dreams into reality and they will be the ones who be making money while everyone else is running to catch up.

Perhaps one of the biggest challenges that we might face if we want to do more than just dream is also a challenge that you will face early on ... how can you fit more work into your already overloaded schedule? What should you stop doing in order to free up some of your time for a new project?

If you're making money from everything you do now how can you afford to replace something that makes you money with a project that isn't going to make you any money in the short to medium term?

Ultimately the challenge here may come down to surviving till the your dream project starts producing money so what can you do to ensure that you do survive?

Maybe you need to look at how you develop that new project because, with a little lateral thinking, it may be possible to develop something new without ditching all those money-making things that already take up so much of your time. If you have never tried outsourcing then maybe it's time to outsource one of your current projects to free up time for your dreams.

If you have been doing something for some time then you've undoubtedly automated it as much as you possibly can. Often it's the automated task that can be much easier to outsource than something that's labour intensive and will require you to train someone

That's just one of the possible solutions to an early challenge that you may face. There will be many more challenges that you will face if you're brave enough to try and turn your dreams into reality. To succeed all you need are more solutions ... and there are always solutions.
