... if your site just doesn't convert?

It's Friday and it's been a crazy week for us so I really can't wait for five o'clock to roll around because then it's beer and noodles night at our place and we can forget about work and business for a while. We can forget about clients, we can forget about search engines and we can ... usually fall asleep in front of the television.

Yep adult webmasters lead a wild life don't we?

At least we don't stay awake at night stressing over search engine placement ... but do you? As part of the service we offer our mainstream clients we watch the search engine placement for their pages and sites. We keep a close watch on where our own pages and sites are appearing too but I don't think it's ever kept us awake at night.

But if you stay awake at night stressing about your where your sites are appearing in the search engine results pages for important terms I have to let you in on a little secret. There is something even more important than good search engine placement that you should be worrying about.

Now that might come as a shock to you but it's a fact ... there is something much more important for your sites than good search engine placement. And that is something that's almost worth worrying about all night. Sadly it's not something many webmasters even stop to think about but it is something that you really do need to worry about.

But what could be more important than good search engine placement? What could be more important than inbound links, C blocks, the physical location of your servers, keyword density, long tails and all those other aspects of SEO that people stress about?

The answer is simple, it's your site's ability to turn visitors into money in your pocket.

You can have the absolute killer page for search engine placement but what's the point of having top spot for any term that you care to think about if your page doesn't get surfers excited enough to sign up with your sponsor? If you've nailed that top spot then it's an absolute waste if you're not turning the majority of your visitors into sign ups with your sponsors.

So if you have some top spots for some good terms what is your conversion ratio? How many people are hitting your site or page from the search engines and then going on their way without heading over to your sponsor?

Have you even stopped to look at the figures? Do you even have something in place on your site or page that will give you those figures?

You know it's not just something that's unique to us here in the adult industry. So many mainstream webmasters and businesses really do stress about getting the top spot in the search engines for their chosen terms but they forget that getting that top spot is only half the battle.

Once they've got that top spot they have to maximize the return on every visitor but unfortunately their pages are so weak they wouldn't convert a sinner on judgment day. Instead the pages are dull, boring and visitors can't wait to leave them. And over in mainstream many webmasters have nothing in place on their pages or sites that might alert them to the problem.

These days having pages and sites that are built to rank well AND convert visitors into sales is vital if you want to survive in business. There really is no point in having the search engine aspect of the equation nailed down if your pages don't convert.

So if you're losing sleep over your search engine rankings ... or if that's the only focus of what you do every day then perhaps it's time to realize that your focus is way too narrow. It's time to start thinking from a marketing perspective too and spend some time turning those great search engine pages and sites into great marketing tools too.

If you've been playing the numbers game and continually throwing heaps of search engine traffic at poorly converting pages think how much more money you'll make if you tweak those pages for sales too.

Then you too can sit back on a Friday night and relax in front of the television ... and fall asleep without having to worry too much about your online business. Actually when you have a site that ranks well and converts well you won't have anything to worry about at all.
